NDS 320W Sun Control 2 Dual Regulator MPPT: N-Bus
C5707
Description
SunControl2 solar regulators from NDS use MPPT technology to optimize the energy going into the battery - up to 25% more than an ordinary PWM regulator. All models can be used with solar panels with an output of up to 320 Watts and with any type of battery including AGM and LiFePO4 lithium.
This model is N-BUS compatible, so can be used in conjunction with other N-BUS devices including the N-BUS Controller.
In addition to charging the leisure battery, this SunControl2 regulator can be installed in such a way that the vehicle's starter battery is maintained as well. 5-stage charging curves (including desulphation) ensure perfect charging in lead-acid batteries and LEDs show the charging status. A temperature sensor (C5706) is available as an optional extra.
Please note: The optional temperature sensor must be used when connected to a LiFeP04 battery
The SC350 has two inputs so that two different solar panels can be connected. Each input can accept a maximum 180W. For solar panels with a rating higher than 180W, you should connect a suitable piece of wire between the two positive inputs of the regulator. This acts as a bridge and you can then use the regulator with a solar panel rated up to 360W. Because of the high power rating that the SC350 can handle, there’s a built-in cooling fan.
NOTES
- There are two LEDs on the regulator. B1 shows how the regulator is charging the leisure battery and B2 the starter battery.
- When the LEDs are red, the batteries are charging: first in bulk and then absorption mode.
- When the LEDs are amber, the regulator is in reconditioning mode, charging the batteries at 10.5V-12V, with a constant current of 2 Amps.
- When the LEDs are green, the battery is fully charged and the regulator is in maintenance mode, charging the battery with a low current and a constant voltage. The maintenance voltage depends on the selected charging curve and this phase times out after 8 hours.
- When the LEDs are off, the solar panel's voltage is too low to charge the batteries, for example, at night.
- NOTE: If the regulator is set for a lithium battery, the LEDs will stay off when the battery is fully charged. In this case, the device turns off and starts charging again only when the battery voltage goes down to 13.45V and only if there is sufficient sun for the panel to operate.
