If you’ve ever gone back to your motorhome or campervan and found that the starter battery has mysteriously discharged, a Votronic Battery Master could well be what you need. We have two models, both of which take a charge from the leisure battery and send it to the starter battery as required. C8451 can be used in many vehicles that have lead-acid leisure batteries, but it’s not suitable for use with lithium batteries as there is no control over either the input or the output.

Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries have a significantly higher resting voltage than starter batteries (lead, AGM). When using simple, unregulated standby chargers, this can lead to the lithium supply battery being completely drained. In this case, the Votronic standby charger (C8451) is not suitable. 

The Votronic Battery Master PRO (C8476) has an adjustable undervoltage limit at the input. The charging is interrupted if this voltage falls below this level, making it ideal for use with lithium leisure batteries. The other main difference between this unit and the standby charger (C8451) is the adjustable output current – up to 8 Amps. This high current ensures that, as long as there’s sufficient capacity in the leisure battery, the starter battery it’s connected to will be maintained at a good state of charge.
