The OptiMate DC to DC charger is a compact DC-DC charger which is ideal for keeping a motorhome's starter battery charged when there's no 240V power supply available. Although it's possible to install the Optimate in any motorhome, it's much easier when a battery-to-battery charger has already been installed and RoadPro offers this option when we install lithium batteries.

For the OptiMate to work efficiently, it's important that the leisure battery receives a charge from a solar panel. The charger can only work when there's sufficient capacity in the leisure battery and, if the batteries are not being charged from a solar panel, the leisure batteries will eventually not have enough energy to power the charger. In average conditions though, as long as the starter battery is in good condition and the drain on it is not excessive, an OptiMate installation is a great way of keeping your starter battery topped up and ready to go when you are.
